At this week’s network upfronts, Fox revealed its slate of upcoming programming. The show that most caught our eye was Minority Report, a loose sequel to the 2002 movie set 10 years after the PreCrime system has been disbanded. Instead of the neo-noir future of Steven Spielberg’s film, where a police captain must solve the murder he’s supposed to commit, the next generation of cops are stuck cleaning up the messes they have no way of stopping. Except that the pre-cogs from the film survived, and can still see crimes before they happen.
The look is more modern procedural, though Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is producing the series, so you can glimpse thematic connections even in the trailer:

Stark Sands plays both Dashiell and Arthur, two of the three pre-cogs from the movie. Dash seems to be the main hero, futilely racing after crimes he can never stop in time. We learn that Arthur (presumably hidden away with their sister Agatha) can only see the who, while Dash contributes the what. A when would be vital—and Dash may be able to figure it out once he starts teaming up with a female detective (Meagan Good) haunted by her past.
Minority Report will premiere this fall.
Fox also released a trailer for Lucifer, and we just can’t with this:
